Yes in my opinion also companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS or HCL - all of them have abused the L1/B1 visa program. At least with H1B the benificiary gets a shot at the "american dream". However with L1 visas - it is pure high tech slave labour. The L1 visa holders are dumped in client places all over the USA and they are paid even lower wages than their H1B counterparts and on top of that the L1 visa absolutely prohibits the visa holder from changing employers. The typical lifcycle of a L1 visa holder is to come to USA, learn from their US counterparts, co-ordinate between the US client and the offshore team back in India, save as much money as possible to pay off for the 2 bed room apartment or car back in India and then at the end of six months , beg their employers for a new project in USA. And during all this time they have to keep up a brave face - saying they dont really "like to stay in USA". Talk about "grapes being sour".
However these companies typically are financially in a much better position and have stronger lobbies than small time desi bodyshoppers sponsoring H1 candidates - so USCIS haven't really got the guts to look into their activities as compared to desi bodyshops.

EB2 ROW is CURRENT except INDIA AND CHINA. EB2 ROW will get 28.6% of 140000.
This means 40040. How they are going to divide these visa between INDIA and CHINA?

There is definately an element of risk and it is high in case of LC substitution. In my case, the LC said that the candidate should have MS and few years of experience and I didn't satisfy all the requirements and eventually got a query from USCIS and rejected the application.
If you can get it approved through a good lawyer like Sheela Murthy or Rajiv Khanna, then you can make a decision.
At times, USCIS doesn't allow to substitute MS degree with experience and it depends on the wording of the LC.
I'd read about this in different forums, talked to lawyers and friends.
Still, you can talk to others who've done it and then make your decision.

I haven't seen anything more laughable than this for quiet some time...BTW do you think by chanting "Green Card" 100 times a day will get you green card or Not talking about India will get it, should we stop talking to people about India here & stop going to India and stop making calls to India since we are focussing on Green Cards ? Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? Every now and then you hear of ministers and celebrities involved in smuggling scandals.

I work on full time basis. have pending 485 and do have EAD and AP, per my attorney decided to get visa stamped on my passport so that do not have to renew AP and EAD every year. I do not intend to leave the employer neither does my employer has any intention of kicking me out.

While I accept that it is unfair, How many of the people will not take a labor substitution if they feel that the company is good and kept their books nice. Retropain, You, me and some xyz might stick to FIFO and wait in line but not every one does. I am sure 99% of the people who vote on your poll will say its unfair and must be removed. Do you still need one? I feel that substitution will be gone soon.

Also out of the 65K H1 visas that were available since 2003, most of the Visas were consumed by the Big Indian companies.
Remember when Congress sent letters to the Big Indian companies, there was data related to how many companies applied for how many Visas.
AFAIK it was in the range of 25k-35k per year combined by all these companies that filed H1s .

I applied for EAD paying old fees in Jul 2007, and I renewed with new fees this year in Jun 2008, would like know if I need to pay renewal fees again when I renew my EAD in Jun 2009.

At Chicago POE, immi officer took my passport and 797 [entire bunch of papers] called up my HR Manager and after speaking to my HR manager gave me I-94 until 1st April 2012 [date on my 797].
Note: Please have off hrs contact/Cell number of your HR manager and your manager

Canada immigration is simple & straight forward.
No expensive lawyers are required or any lengthy procedures. Just self do. Also look at the currency rate of US and Canada almost same... Tax is a little high but medical is fully covered.
You need to fill forms,send all your education, papers etc and LO ! you are done and get PR Card. Some of my friends got it in less than 2 yrs.

I can understand someone may get it done as backup but here it seems that some of the people are out to the mission .. And I have a problem there. If somebody is in really a bad shape of US Green card and all doors are going to be closed soon and considering Canada.. That is understandable... But living in US, stating to love USA and writing to drive others out of USA looks contradictory to me.. Hypocrates... US GC is broken and f@@cked up so what .. Try to fight it out as long as you can...And believe me not everbody's grapes are sour yet.
Other thing, with decision of corporates you can not take decisiion to unsettle your life.. Argument: Microsoft decides to go to Canada and is hirring you .. What can go wrong...many things can go wrong.. you do not know and many things cannot be proved.. With myself it already happened.. In year 2001 Bubble burst my then employer gave me a choice to move to Canada ( Exactly Microsoft kind of public declaration.. Company is also very prestigious and more or less you can consider it of the size of Microsoft).... I took decision not to go and so I was out of the company.. Some friends went there.. after 2 years laid off.. Those 2 years they got American salary on Canadian land (Dream, huh !!!!!!!!) ,, But then what after lay off.. One of them had to sit 6 months to get proper job.. Way less salary... Can this happen to everybody? May not be..But the bottom line is you will have to fiight out the hurdles.. Here you have GC Process hurdle.. In canada you may not have that but you may be having other 100 hurdles... What will you do then? WIll you go to Australia? ...There are 600 countries so at the most you can do 600 migrations :-) By the way both of my friends now want to come back to USA after getting citizenship and their families do not want to move as they have mentally fed up with this move from country to country.. 1. How hard/easy is it to get TN visa? Is it restricted only to specialized professions like H1 or can ppl with general office (HR/marketing) etc also get TN visa?
2. Can spouse work or is it same state as H4?
3. How hard/easy is it to switch jobs?
4. What does it take to apply for green card while on TN (without switching to H status)
5. Anyone tried L1 route from Canada to US?
