Here is what I researched and found out-
From the data for India
For Permanent applications 2004 => Reduction in Recruitment (EB2 cases)
From 1 April 1004 to 16 August 2004 => 430 appox(All countries)
No data from 17 August 2004 to 28 February 2005.
From 01 March 2005 to 30 September 2005, For Level III- 263 For Level IV-271
= 500 approx.
For 01 October 2005 to March 2006, For Level III- 2500, Level IV-1770
= 4300 approx.
Now, of the GCs approved last Aug.08 and Sept.08 were from the Texas Service Center.
That meant Atlanta Processing Center was the Labor Approval Center.
So, For 01 October 2005 to March 2006
For Level III- 1100, Level IV-770.
So, total left = (2500-1100) + (1770-770) = 1400 + 1100= 2500
Therefore toatl from 01 April 2004 to Mar. 2006=>
430(2004) + 400(mystery number from 16 Aug. 04 to 01 March 2005) + 500(2005) +2500(2006)= 3900 principal applicants.
Multiply by 2 for dependents = 7800 EB2 India pending before Mar. 06.
Please comment on my analysis or feel free to ask questions.

I think it is only discrimination if the per-country limit is different for different countries.
Since all countries have the same limit, there is no discrimination at all.
But the limits have been pre-defined for certain coutries as the demand is so high from those countries..

Your statement completely misleads and not true.
SL Tamils are not immigrants but are the native sons of northern part of the present geographical area known as Sri Lanka. Before Europeans came more than 500 years ago to Sri Lanka, SL Tamils had their own kingdom but when finally British left, they left the Tamils land and fate with the hands of the narrow minded majority, who started to discriminate ingenious Tamils left and right.
Of course as you said, there are Indian Tamils in Sri Lanka who were taken by British to work in the tea plantations. Besides, Muslims in Sri Lanka also speak Tamil but they don�t usually associate racially with Tamils and maintain separate identity
Current issue in Sri Lanka is between native Tamils and Sinhalese. Indian Tamils factor very minimal in this conflict.
Please do some research before putting things in historical puerspective.

I agree with you on one thing as in my statement I did not enlist all probable historic migrations of tamils in past for an example during Chola invasion or at the time of Prince Vijaya.. Today's almost 18-20% of tamil population in Sri lanka is due to the large scale migration happened during British time period. And yes if stick to the truthful definition of "native" neither Sinhala nor tamils are the natives of Sri Lanka as both ethenic groups have been migrated from India to Sri Lanka at some point of time in history. And we can not change the definition of "native" in every century. Can we?:)

All I am saying is, the DOS or USCIS can be unpredictible at times. I know TECHNICALLY there is NO way the July bulletin can retrogress IN JULY. However I would NOT be surprised if that happens. Coz this suddenly creates a FLOOD of Ead applications and AP applications not to mention Finger printing.

I usually just browse through these forums and I really appreciate the effort put in by the organizers. But this thread gave me an urge to respond and perhaps talk.
First of all, SRK is just a normal human, not a God. The TSA has even questioned many American celebrities. SRK is just a guy with Khan as last name. TSA is not going to take chances and will make sure they do what is needed to protect America. And SRK probably acted like a monkey again and annoyed the TSA guys so they held him up for 2 hours. OK, just kidding. But thing is, Indian government if anything should take a lesson from it. In india if you are SRK or Sanjay Dutt, there are no lines for you..any where. Indians should get angry at that, not this that just happened in the USA. And for God's sake, why would you even want to sympathesize with a character like SRK who has destroyed the indian movie industry?
Now don't tell me I am a traitor. I love India, I love America. I live in America because I like living in America and I have gotten used to the comfort and lifestyle. This doesnt mean that I hate India.
And to the guy who thinks that americasn think Indians are slumdogs or thrid class citizens...please go to india and free up the line for the rest of us. Its your belief that they think you are a slumdog. Perhaps you come across that way to them. Indians are more notorious when it comes to "grading" people based on their color or status and if a few rednecks in America did this to you, don't stereotype the entire country.
Enjoy the life. Life is good. In America and in India. Long wait for the GC? Yes it is a b**ch, but why have you rest your entire life on a decision by USCIS. Enjoy and take risks and blow your money on good things in life...even if you dont get the GC, on your flight back to India you will at least be proud of the fact that you enjoyed your stay in America. Go out, meet people, meet beautiful girls, eat good food, drink whiskey, watch movies, go hiking...so many things to do guys. And if you dont get the GC, tell your friends and family about the stuff you did in America.
Don't ever be that Indian guy in the office. Be a smart global citizen.

You assume the opposite (there are very few bad fish) and hence come to the conclusion that catching more fish would net you more bad fish (but way more "good" fish as well) as well. But given your assumption, it is puzzling why you want to have lesser number of GC's (if indeed that is what you are advocating, I haven't read all the messages in the thread) when you assume there are way more "good" candidates than bad.

Is AILA doing anything about it? Do they need IV member support? How do we make it clear to the USCIS and Govt that targetting H1b and the free will of the employer to hire H1b is PURE SOCIALISM and anti-capitalism. It is a sure way of destroying the capitalistic engine that is keeping the US ahead. Is US becoming a restrictive economy like China? China is moving slowly but surely out of its old ways and becoming more and more open to capitalistic policies and we are finding the US slipping slowly but surely into protectionism and more socialistic principles.
How can you protect jobs here by taking away the job of another person??
The person was hired in the first place due to a lot of economic reasons that only a capitalist would know/understand. Simply by snatching the job away from one person and attempting to give to another WILL NOT HELP.
This reactive response to unemployment will destroy whatever industry is left here. Even research is now being outsourced. Biotech/research triangles are springing up in china and India and elsewhere. Major US universities are now collaborating or setting up independent shops in India and china. Ofcourse Japan and europe is not at all behind. Where is the US left now? CRYING CRYING ABOUT H1B VISAS???? IS IMMIGRATION IS REAL CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT HERE???????

If the prior experience was related to your field, then I don't see why not. You may want to hurry because if USIS comes with 45-day labor expiration rule soon (which they may), you may not be able to use the prior approved labor.

I remeber how brutal Imran used to be to Indian openers with his deadly in-swinger. Those were days of good cricket ... a classy cricket. Outside cricket Imran still commands respect for being honorable and honest person.
On other hand our Azhar is one of those who will sell his own mother for money. A disgrace to cricket world. Comparing him to Imran is like comparing Lion in Jungle to a Hyenna ( no disrespect to reading Hyenna).

US economy situation is alarming. I doubt they will consider any immigration related bill until financial crisis stablises.2009 will be the key.Economy has to stablise. If not anti immigrants will block any bill citing the economy as the reason. If unemployment increases every month then any immigration reform is distance possiblity.Illegal immigrants are is getting publicity every year by rally for past 4 years but nothing happened. Pro immigrants are trying to block E-verify and some other anti immigration reforms. Anti immigrants are trying to block pro immigrant reforms. So any immigration reforms will be stalled until some compromise reached by moderates
no comments from anyone on this ..I guess most of us are resigned to our fate ? no problems though since I have also given up ...GC will come when it has to ...it is better to have plan B and plan C ..(i.e. be ready to accept that there is a good chance that getting GC will become more complicated esp if there are layoff's everywhere ..I guess there is already a thread regarding issues faced by people who had to use AC21)

I guess most of us are angry and resigned to fate ..what if we come with a shock therapy campaign ..i.e. get thousands of legal immigrant signatures ...and say we are fed up with the broken system and we intend to give up and leave US soon .. if this gets lot of publicity then atleast someone (maybe one of the presidential candidate) will come up with a solid promise to do something ??

no comments from anyone on this ..I guess most of us are resigned to our fate ? no problems though since I have also given up ...GC will come when it has to ...it is better to have plan B and plan C ..(i.e. be ready to accept that there is a good chance that getting GC will become more complicated esp if there are layoff's everywhere ..I guess there is already a thread regarding issues faced by people who had to use AC21)

I guess most of us are angry and resigned to fate ..what if we come with a shock therapy campaign ..i.e. get thousands of legal immigrant signatures ...and say we are fed up with the broken system and we intend to give up and leave US soon .. if this gets lot of publicity then atleast someone (maybe one of the presidential candidate) will come up with a solid promise to do something ??
I have posted this in other threads to get more inputs ...I guess we need something dramatic especially when our cause is dying ...point is to get maximum publicity ..maybe flowers + the intent to leave USA

I know what I am about to say will trigger a lot of reaction and some resentment, but it has to be said on behalf of those who are not Indian. I think the per country limit is to ensure that people of all nationalities and races have an equal opportunity to obtain a green card and to ensure that no one nationality, group, or even sector (i.e. IT) monopolizes the so few visas that are available. In fact, in the visa lottery, countries become excluded when the number of immigrants from them reach a certain point, so we are lucky they do not do that in the Employment-based system!
I think that by wanting to remove the per country limit so more Indians can avail of the green card quota is both asking for "special treatment" and a slap in the face for all the non-Indian IV members. The more I read the threads on this site, the more I feel that this organization is geared just to one ethnic group. I am sure that Indians probably make up the majority of members, but the founders of IV (I hope) did not want this organization to become one-sided! Please be considerate of ALL members and try to come up with suggestions that would benefit ALL members!!!:mad:

Every time someone asks them to do something, they flash the USC on their ass.

" We have heard that there will be a visa regression the first week of July "
And in immigration matters I trust her more than anybody in this whole country. So guys be ready and prepared. Do what u have to do. Be proactive.
My post is not to spread rumors or scare people but to help them to grab this golden opportunity.
I am ready to send papers for July 1st.
YES! And, my lawyer told me that there is going to be meteoroid shower on this planet before end of June and we are all going to die.
